Leading Dem Caves On Trump’s Border Wall Spelling Doom For Pelosi’s Hardline Position

Reality is setting in for the Democrats and the sooner they admit it and take their lumps the sooner America can move on.

The deadline for the border wall is fast approaching and Trump will not cave. He has proposed multiple options, all common sense, to build the wall where we need it and use technology and natural barriers where we do not.

The Democrats have supported this position in the past but with their hatred for Trump blinding them, they dug in their heels.

But the cracks are showing – right now in the bipartisan conference committee the Dems and GOP are hearing from border security experts and most expect that these experts will recommend that at least some new wall is built. Which spells doom for Pelosi’s hardline position.

From The Washington Examiner: House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn on Wednesday indicated Democrats could be open to new border wall, or at least some kind of border “barrier,” if experts agree that this step is needed to boost border security.

“If the experts say that under the circumstances that this particular port of entry, this needs to be reinforced with certain barriers, then I don’t see us turning our backs on that,” Clyburn, D-S.C., told CNN Wednesday morning after President Trump’s State of the Union address.

Clyburn says that he is not against a border wall, but believes it’s important to listen to the experts and heed their recommendations.

Trump signed a continuing resolution at the end of January that agreed to fund the government for three weeks, until Feb. 15, while funding negotiations continue.

Trump is demanding a bill that includes the $5.7 billion for a physical barrier, and the administration says Democrats agreed to negotiate on that in exchange for Trump’s signature to reopen the government and pay hundreds of thousands of federal workers who suffered paycheck losses during the shutdown.

This is big and is the first time an important Democrat is on record as saying if the experts agree, we will move in that direction.

Look, Trump will probably not get all $5.7 billion he wants for the wall, but he will get a lot more than the zero Pelosi offered.

If they actually make a compromise on this, imagine all the great things they can accomplish in the next two years.
